Market Capitalization

Published Editorial review How we check the data

Short answer

The market value of a company’s outstanding shares.

Market capitalization is calculated by multiplying the current share price by the number of outstanding shares. It is a measure of the company’s equity value in the public market, not the same as enterprise value or the amount of cash raised in the IPO. The figure changes as the share price changes.
