Figma expands code workflows and India reach after its IPO

Figma’s 15 October announcements add code layers, Specs and Payload workflows, while India becomes a focus for education and AI partnerships.

Product expansion — 15 October 2026

Figma announced an open-beta rollout for code layers and Specs, alongside Payload capabilities for Figma Make. Availability differs: code layers cover all plans, Specs cover paid plans, and Payload access is rolling out over several weeks. A launch announcement does not mean every account already has access.

India as a distribution market

At Config India, Figma announced a partnership with Sarvam and a university education program. The company identifies India as its second-largest market by daily active users as of 30 June 2026. That usage ranking does not establish India’s share of revenue.

What to watch after the IPO

Our assessment: the announcements broaden the product and distribution story beyond collaborative design. The investment question is whether added workflows help turn usage into sustained paid adoption while controlling development and infrastructure costs. These releases supply product evidence, rather than a new revenue forecast or a change to the historical IPO terms.
