LG CNS's 2025 IPO: separating the offer from new company capital
Archive: LG CNS joined the KOSPI on 5 February 2025 at KRW 61,900 per share, with new shares accounting for half the offering.
Archive: this article covers LG CNS's completed February 2025 flotation. The Korean technology services company listed on the KOSPI on 5 February 2025, according to its financial statements. The offer price was KRW 61,900 per share.
The company's subscription announcement recorded a total offering of 19,377,190 shares, worth approximately KRW 1.20 trillion. The financial statements separately identify 9,688,595 newly issued shares. These account for half the offer, implying approximately KRW 599.7 billion of gross primary proceeds before costs. The other half represented existing shares rather than newly created company capital.
This financing distinction is useful because the business was presenting a sizeable technology investment programme. At its IPO strategy presentation, LG CNS described plans to strengthen artificial intelligence and cloud capabilities and expand internationally. Its activities included managed cloud services, financial systems, logistics automation and factory technology.
Those are different commercial models. Building a customer's information system can generate project revenue, while operating cloud infrastructure or maintaining software can bring continuing service work. In editorial terms, the useful question after listing is how each activity contributes to growth, margins and cash generation, rather than treating every contract as equivalent exposure to artificial intelligence.
The company also discussed immersion cooling and digital twins for data centres. These were strategic initiatives in its IPO materials, not a guarantee of future revenue. Subsequent reporting needs to establish which projects have moved from development into signed business and how much investment is required to deliver them. The figures in this retrospective describe the offering, not today's share price or valuation.
